Plymouth Astronomical Society

Join us

The Plymouth Astronomical Society is open to anyone who is interested in astronomy - of any age and from absolute beginner to professional astronomer!

Meetings are normally held on the second Friday of every month from September to July, 7:30pm - 9:30pm.  There is no meeting during August.

The theme of each meeting depends on the presentations by society members or by the guest speaker.

Our Patron is Professor David Southwood who has recently been President of the Royal Astronomical Society. (Our previous Patron was Sir Patrick Moore, CBE, HonFRS, FRAS.)

We are a member of the Federation of Astronomical Societies.

Membership

Annual membership costs £15.00 and is due in September.  Membership forms are available at Society meetings.

Visitors are very welcome and are asked to pay £2.00 at the door.  This will be deducted from your annual membership if you subsequently decide to join the society.

Location

We normally meet in Room 411 on the top floor of the Babbage Building on the Plymouth University city centre campus, PL4 8AA.  The main entrance is on the first floor but there is disabled access on the ground floor and a lift.  Parking is available on the campus.  Please see the map below.

Disabled Access - There is disabled access on the ground floor but the doors need to be opened from inside.  An able-bodied person will need to enter on the first floor and go down to the ground floor.  There is a push button on the left hand side of the doors, looking from the inside, which will open the doors.  If a disabled person arrives unaccompanied they should ring University Security on 01752 588400 for someone to come and open the doors.
